Aftercare and Warranty: Ongoing Support After Installation

A new stone worktop is an investment in your home, and it should continue to look beautiful long after installation day. While everyday care plays an important role, it is also reassuring to know that expert support is available if your surface needs attention in the future.
At Oxford Stone Craftsmanship, our commitment does not end once your worktop has been installed. We believe exceptional craftsmanship should be supported by thoughtful aftercare, giving our customers confidence long after installation day.
Alongside practical advice, we offer an installation warranty for worktops fitted in their original property. We can also provide maintenance support for granite and quartz surfaces, including chip repairs, refreshed silicone and help with certain marks or hard water build-up.
Installation Warranty and Peace of Mind
Oxford Stone Craftsmanship provides an installation warranty for worktops fitted for the original customer and installed in the original property.
The installation warranty applies to the original customer while the worktop remains installed at the original property. If the property is sold or ownership changes, the installation warranty does not transfer to the new owner. This keeps any warranty support connected to the original installation, property and customer.
The warranty offers added reassurance about the quality of the installation. However, it does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, staining, etching or damage that occurs after installation.
If you have a concern about your worktop, our team will always be happy to discuss it and advise on the most suitable next step.
Aftercare Support for Granite and Quartz Worktops
Even the most carefully chosen worktop can need occasional attention over time. A dropped item may cause a small chip, silicone can begin to look tired, or hard water marks may develop around a sink area.
For granite and quartz worktops, Oxford Stone Craftsmanship may be able to help with:
- Chip repair assessments
- Re-siliconing around worktops and upstands
- General surface maintenance
- Assessing stubborn marks or stains
- Removing hard water build-up where possible
Every surface and issue is different. Therefore, we recommend contacting our team before attempting a repair or using a strong cleaning product. We can assess the issue and advise whether a maintenance visit may be suitable.
This support helps customers protect the appearance of their worktops and maintain a polished finish over time.
Granite Maintenance and Resealing
Granite is a natural material with distinctive colour, pattern and movement. Because it contains natural micro-pores, it benefits from periodic sealing to help reduce the risk of staining.
Darker and denser granites often need less frequent resealing. Lighter granites may need more regular attention, with annual sealing often recommended. However, every granite is different, so our team can offer guidance based on your individual surface.
If your granite worktop begins to look dull, develops hard water marks or needs general maintenance, we can discuss the options available and advise on the best approach.
Quartz Maintenance and Repairs
Quartz is a practical, durable and low-maintenance choice for busy homes. Unlike natural stone, quartz does not require sealing or additional protection.
However, quartz can still chip if it receives a heavy knock. It can also develop marks or build-up in areas exposed to regular water use. In these cases, Oxford Stone Craftsmanship may be able to assess the surface and provide suitable maintenance support.
Our team can also advise on the best way to care for your quartz worktop between visits, helping it remain clean, polished and ready for everyday use.
Important Considerations for Marble and Quartzite
Marble and quartzite offer beautiful natural character, but they need a more considered approach to aftercare. These materials can be more susceptible to staining, scratching, chipping and etching than granite or quartz.
Acidic substances, including lemon juice, vinegar, wine, tomatoes and some household or personal-care products, can mark or dull the surface. Regular sealing can help reduce the risk of staining. However, sealing does not prevent etching caused by acidic substances.
For this reason, Oxford Stone Craftsmanship cannot repair staining or etching on marble and quartzite surfaces. If you have chosen one of these materials, it is important to clean spills promptly and follow the care guidance provided after installation.
Specialist protection and restoration options may also be available through independent stone-care companies. Our showroom team can provide further guidance if you would like to explore these options.
Everyday Care Still Matters
Good aftercare begins with simple habits. Use warm water or a mild kitchen surface cleaner for everyday cleaning, then dry the surface thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Avoid harsh products, including oven cleaner, drain cleaner and products containing bleach. In addition, use chopping boards for food preparation and trivets or pan stands for hot cookware.
