It is really important with any marble or quartzite surface to take the correct care to ensure your stone can be as beautiful as the day it was installed. Marble and some quartzites are prone to marking because of its high calcium carbonate composition, which reacts with acid and alkaline based substances. These substances eat away at the surface, resulting in dull spots known as etches. Some common household items notorious for etching include lemons, orange juice, prosecco, red wine, ketchup, and even some cleaning products. Please do contact our showroom and we can recommend companies that can offer more permanent solutions to prevent the staining and etching making these gorgeous stone surfaces much more functional for day to day use.
