Our Terms and Conditions

Quotations / Estimations

Any price quoted is based on the information supplied to us by you or indicated on any drawing supplied to us. Any changes concerning the dimensions of the kitchen which affects the quantities we have priced for may be charged as an extra. Any quotation issued is valid for up to 90 days.

Quotations do not include any plumbing / electrical / gas work that may be required after installation of the work surfaces. We may be able to recommend plumbers, electricians and gas engineers if required but our work surface fitters are stonemasons so are unable to undertake this work themselves.

We can provide an indication of join locations based on your kitchen plan but final join locations will be determined by our templater at the templating appointment.

Please note that there is an additional cost for a flush mounted hob / sink cut out.

Payment Terms

A deposit of 50% of the total value of the project is required on agreement of the project. This can be paid by bank transfer or by debit / credit card.

Deposit payment is required before the templating appointment unless by prior arrangement. Should deposit payment not have been received before the templating appointment, and the project is subsequently cancelled, the customer will be invoiced for the appointment (the cost will vary according to project size but the minimum payment will be £90.00 plus VAT).

Surveys and consultation visits are always free of charge.

The final balance is required with 48 hours of the invoice date. Invoices are issued on the day of installation or the day following installation. Any variations on the payment terms must be agreed by us prior to the project being undertaken.

Variations in Colour and Pattern of Natural Stone and Quartz

As granite and marble are natural materials we are unable to guarantee the colour or pattern as these factors can vary. We would strongly recommend that customers visit the supplier to select their slabs if the granite in question is heavily patterned. Natural variations are intrinsic to the stones character and are part of the beauty of the product and should not be seen as a fault.

Quartz is generally more consistent from slab to slab than a natural stone but many quartz products do contain variations in the pattern. This variation is present particularly in quartz products that replicate a natural stone (i.e. marble or limestone). Any samples provided give only an indication of

the colour and pattern of the particular quartz. Customers are more than welcome to visit the supplier to view full slabs of quartz.

Quartz slabs can also vary slightly from batch to batch (like paint colours) and customers are welcome to visit to view their stone prior to fabrication.

It is the responsibility of the customer to request to view slabs of either natural stone or quartz if variations in the pattern are of concern.

Installation

The kitchen, bathroom or other base units to which the granite, marble or quartz will be fitted need to be level in both planes for the stone to fit correctly.

Our fitters aim to work as cleanly as possible during each installation but please be aware that in certain circumstances cutting of the stone will need to be completed in situ. Hob and over mounted sink cut outs in granite and natural stone surfaces may need to be completed once the surface is installed (quartz surfaces may also occasionally require hob and over mounted sink cut outs to be completed in situ). The fitters always try to keep the dust created to a minimum but please be aware that there may be dust created during your stone surface installation.

If we have fabricated stone surfaces to your / your contractor’s template or dimensions without visiting the site we do not accept any liability for mistakes made in the measurements or the template.

Fabrication and Installation of Stone Supplied by Customer

We are more than happy to cut and install stone that has been supplied to us by a customer. We can however not be liable to replace any stone that is damaged during fabrication or installation where the stone has not been supplied by ourselves. Full agreed payment will also be required even if the stone does break.

Fabrication from Customer’s Own Dimensions

We can cut and fabricate surfaces from dimensions (or templates) that have been supplied to us and the finished product will be cut to within +/- 2 mm of the measurements provided.

Timescale

We advise approximately 5 to 15 working days from templating to installation for the majority of kitchen surfaces (providing that deposit payment is received on or before the day of templating) but please note that this is a guide only. Lead times will vary according to the time of year that an order

is placed and the size of the project. Please do enquire as to current lead times when booking your templating appointment.

We cannot be held responsible for any unforeseen delays which may occur during delivery, but in the unlikely event of this happening we will endeavour to reschedule a date for delivery and installation at a time convenient for you. Due to the vagaries and variations of the materials we use, and allowing for delivery from our supplier, we can only offer an expected date and cannot accept any liability for loss incurred from any delay in delivering and installing our products

Ownership

All materials supplied remain the property of Oxford Stone Craftsmanship Ltd until full and final payment has been received and cleared into our bank account.

Maintenance and Aftercare

Although granite is durable, it does require some maintenance to keep it in good condition. A copy of our Care and Maintenance guidelines will be sent with the final invoice. Please refer to the ‘Granite’ page of our website for more details.

We do not recommend that granite is subjected to direct heat (dish from hob or oven) so trivets should be used.

Quartz can also not be subjected to direct heat (as resin is used to bind the stone together) so again trivets or pan stands should be used.

Granite, quartz and ceramic surfaces are very durable but they are not indestructible as they are stone products. Care should be taken when handling heavy items above or near the surfaces.

Granite, quartz and ceramic surfaces can not be stood or sat on.
